Kick off your racing season with the Coastal Challenge 8-hour Adventure Race! This race features some of the best of Delaware's beach areas. Travel across beautiful coastal areas, paddle in the Delaware Bay, and see spectacular views of the ocean! This course is designed to give racers of all skill levels an exciting 8 hour experience, with short course options for slower, newer teams, and many optional bonus checkpoints that will keep even that fastest teams on the course occupied for the full 8 hours! In addition to earning points in the Delmarva Adventure Sports Race Series, the Coastal Challenge 8-hour Adventure Race is one of only a handful of races in 2013 that is part of the USARA's point series, Checkpoint Tracker's point series, and the North American Adventure Racing's point series! This means that teams will be able to earn points in 3 different NATIONAL race series all in this one event! OVERVIEW Date: May 4, 2013 Location: Cape Henlopen State Park - Lewes, DE (map) Start Time: 9 AM Duration: 8 hours Disciplines: - Coastal (bay) paddling 8 Miles - Trekking 12 Miles - Biking (on and off road) 25 Miles - Navigation (GPS devices prohibited) *Distances above represent approximate distances of the full mandatory course and some of the bonus checkpoints. Short course options are shorter than above distances. - Mandatory Gear - Race Rules - Scoring - Registered Teams Lodging Options: Camping at Cape Henlopen State Park: <2 miles from race start - Tent sites, RV sites, showers/bathhouse ($35/night) - Cabins ($92/night) Multiple Hotels in the Lewes/Rehoboth Beach Area - (10 miles or less from race start) Registration Fees: Online registration is now closed for this event.
